St. Margaret's Church
We begin our journey, in the world of Transylvanian fortifications, in Mediaș, one of the seven Saxon citadels, established at the beginning of the last millennium. Known for many as "the second most inclined tower, after the one in Pisa" the Church of Saint Margaret with its Tower of the Trompetes represents the centerpiece of this medieval fortification.
Mediaș medieval fortified towers
We continue our journey without leaving Medias and we will be going to visit some of the seven fortified towers of the city. Together we will discover the legends behind these fortifications, as well as the history of the fortifications of over 700 years.
Next stop, Sighișoara! Here we will also visit the fortress built in the 12th century. Surrounded by a defense wall, which in some places reaches the height of 14 meters, the Sighișoara Citadel is still inhabited today. The Clock Tower, along with the other eight towers envelops a multitude of legends and stories that give the fame of the Transylvanian region.
Walking through Sighișoara
We want you to feel the real Transylvanian experience! And to do so we will take the cobblestone streets of this magnificent city by foot. You will have time to enjoy a coffee at one of the medieval bistros or even visit the house where the dreaded Vlad "Dracula" Țepeș was born.
The Fortified Citadel Of Biertan
We leave Sighișoara behind and continue our journey to Biertna, our last stop. Built hundreds of years ago, this fortification is preserved in excellent conditions today. Hidden beyond the hills of Biertan, the fortress has been one of the main strategic points over the years, whether it was because of the Ottoman attacks or because of commercial reasons.
